Dr. Stark’s views mental health as an important component of holistic wellbeing. She earned her doctorate degree from Antioch University Seattle and works with a wide diversity of patients across age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and health. Diflucan over the counter
When people asked Dr. Stark’s what she wanted to do in her life, she often answered that she most preferred sitting in a coffee shop talking with her friends. She knew she had a love for intimate conversations, and has turned that passion into a career.
Dr. Stark offers a gentle style in letting patients take ownership of their lives while providing guidance towards new ways of being. She takes an integrative therapeutic approach to working with patients with a client-centered core, and often uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help patients practice allowing things to be as they are through mindful awareness while also moving towards valued directions in life. She believes this style fits well with both Eastern and Western philosophies and can meet patients where they’re at.
After earning her bachelor’s degree as valedictorian in psychology and theatre from Cornell College, Dr. Stark spent time doing career counseling, tutoring youth, and as a case manager for international adoptions from China, India and Russia. She then decided to obtain her doctorate in clinical psychology from APA-accredited Antioch University Seattle with an APA-accredited internship at HealthPoint, and has gained a passion and appreciation for integrated care.
Dr. Stark has been doing clinical work since 2013 and has experience with a wide range of populations. Settings have included a pediatric clinic, a school for developmentally delayed children, a community mental health clinic, an inpatient psychiatric unit, a cancer research center, and an integrated medical clinic. Her dissertation was a qualitative study on the video game The Sims investigating the relationship between video game users and their game-based characters and behaviors.
Dr. Stark is dedicated to cultural awareness and believes this is pertinent to quality care. She has worked with clients of varying racial and ethnic diversity, LGBTQ+ identities, non-English-speaking patients, and those across the socioeconomic span. Difficulties and life experiences with which Dr. Stark has worked include anxiety and depression, trauma, identity concerns, weight management, chronic pain and other medical conditions, perinatal concerns, interpersonal violence, suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and other behavior disorders.
