Ariel is a licensed acupuncturist and East Asian medicine practitioner who blends traditional medicine with evidence-based techniques and practices. They enjoy treating a wide variety of conditions, but specialize in pain management, mental health and wellness, and LGBTQ healthcare.
ARIEL’S STORYAriel comes from a family of doctors and nurses and originally wanted to rebel against following in their footsteps by focusing on studying the humanities. All this changed when they found their passion for acupuncture, Eastern medicine, and Chinese medicine through studying Chinese martial arts and qigong. They loved that Eastern medicine viewed health and wellness as holistic practices. Now they can say they have proudly joined their family of doctors, but as the first doctor of acupuncture and Eastern medicine.
Acupuncture and Eastern medicine boast diagnostic methods and treatment modalities with a more than 2000-year-old history. Ariel feels strongly that blending the wisdom of the past with modern approaches and advancements results in the most effective holistic treatments. Their DAOM training has taught them to combine the wisdom of classical Eastern medical texts with the findings of modern clinical research and case studies to create the most effective treatment plans for their patients.
Ariel’s particular areas of clinical specialty and interest include orthopedic pain management, mental health and wellness, and LGBTQ healthcare. They also have experience treating headaches, migraines, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and digestive complaints. They have received advanced training in various styles of trigger and motor point needling, tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) techniques, and electroacupuncture and laser therapy as advanced pain management techniques.
As part of their DAOM clinical training, Ariel has completed a 240-hour in-patient integrated care internship at Harborview Medical Center and an 80-hour in-patient integrated care internship at Providence Medical Center. In addition to clinical training, Ariel also works at Bastyr University as a teacher’s and supervisor’s assistant and as a guest lecturer.
Ariel has received Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) degrees from Bastyr University. Their DAOM training focused on management and care of the physical and psychoemotional effects of acute and chronic pain. Knowing that there is always more to learn and improve upon, Ariel is passionate about expanding their acupuncture and Eastern medicine knowledge through continuing education and self-study.
