MEET ASHLEY LEVIEN, MA, LMHC, MHP

Ashley believes mental wellness isn’t necessarily about changing who you are but about changing your relationship to who you are. Ashley considers the whole person including mind, body and spirit in her approach. She works from a culturally considerate, integrative lens grounded in person-centered and feminist theories. This allows her to create a tailored approach to meet each client’s unique need. She earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology at Bastyr University and enjoys working with a wide diversity of populations and issues. Ashley specializes in working with adolescents ages 13 and up, womxn’s issues, LGBTQI+ population, trauma, chronic health issues, major life transitions and relational concerns with families, partner(s) and self.

ASHLEY’S STORY

Ashley has always had a passion for helping others. After undergoing a series of hardships and health issues from adolescence into young adulthood, she was able to begin her journey to healing with the support of a counselor and holistic wellness team. Ashley’s personal experience in counseling created a lasting impact in her life and eventually led her to want to help others in the way she was so privileged to experience. On her journey to healing, she discovered that while traditional Western medicine serves an integral purpose, Eastern philosophies were the missing pieces to holistic care she was looking for. Ashley’s favorite ways to practice self-care include, yoga, mindfulness, seeing live music, writing, being in nature, traveling and trying new things!

APPROACH TO THERAPY

Ashley’s approach is mindful, intuitive, and warm-hearted. As an integrative therapist, Ashley allows her diverse life experiences as well her training in various modalities to inform her work. As a result, she offers each client a personalized approach that is specifically tailored to suit the unique needs and treatment goals of each client.

As an empathetic witness, advocate, and guide, Ashley’s goal is to help each client achieve a sense of self-awareness, support, acceptance and sense of agency through mindful observation, personal exploration, and collaborative experimentation.

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION

Ashley has always been interested human anatomy & physiology and the mind-body connection. Ashley began her educational journey considering the medical field and completed a nursing assistant program at Bellevue College in addition to pre-nursing and nutrition courses. After realizing her passion and strengths for communication, building relationships over time, and her desire to understand others on a deeper level, she knew her calling was to become a therapist. Ashley completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Eastern Washington University then went on to Bastyr University to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and graduated from both institutions with honors.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

After completing her bachelor’s degree, Ashley worked as a milieu counselor at a residential facility for women and adolescents struggling with eating disorders. Thereafter, Ashley completed her practicum at Bastyr Center for Natural Health and internship at a community mental health agency in West Seattle. Since then, she has gained experience with a wide range of populations and issues. Ashley has spent a few years working at Issaquah based nonprofit agency as a Youth and Family Therapist doing a combination of outpatient work and school-based counseling at local middle and high schools.

Ashley is dedicated to personal and professional growth and appreciates having a career in which continuous education and development is essential. Ashley attends a minimum of 2-3 trainings per year and is always looking to learn the most current evidenced based treatments to offer her clients.
